The Clyde Maritime Trust (Scottish Charity No : SC004608) owns the barque Glenlee, she is the principal exhibit at The Tall Ship at GLASGOW Harbour, an independent Museum committed to the preservation and interpretation of the Glenlee and the maritime history of the area for the benefit of local people and visitors to GLASGOW, Scotland.
The Tall Ship at GLASGOW Harbour will continue to be a cultural asset for the city of GLASGOW, Scotland, that offers both local people and visitors the opportunity to discover more about the maritime heritage of the city. This will be a dynamic experience with changing exhibitions and events and we will consistently strive to provide our visitors with a positive, value for money experience supported by excellent customer service. We will also act as an educational and training resource and encourage community involvement at all levels.
Today, Glenlee is maintained by a paid crew and volunteers, who also carry out restoration and improvement projects. At present the ballast is being re-stowed to increase the space accessible to visitors, and a replica lifeboat is being built. Next year we hope to fit out the poop cabin much as it was in 1896 and build an education area on the Lower Deck. These works are part of a refit programme, to get the Ship ready to be berthed alongside the new Riverside Museum from 2011.
