Tangmere Military Aviation Museum near Chichester, West Sussex, was opened in 1982, by aviation enthusiasts whose aim was to create an awareness in the public sector of the illustrious military and aviation heritage of the United Kingdom. The museum also serves as a memorial to the airmen and women who sacrificed their lives in the service, and to hopefully educate present and future generations in military aviation. Tangmere Military Aviation Museum houses an impressive and interesting display of historic aircraft, as well as a fascinating collection of aviation memorabilia which ranges from the First World War right up to the Cold War. Visitors can have a "flying" experience in one of our four computer controlled aircraft simulators, and also see numerous interactive displays. Merston Hall is a hangar-styled hall that houses 2 full sized Spitfire replicas and a replica Hurricane, as well as displays of cutaway jet engines, aircraft propellers, an exhibition of flying helmets, several ejector seats and many other unique exhibits. A visit to the museum is a great family outing, as there is something of interest for everyone.
