From the 1860's gold rush to the present day, Hokitika, on the West Coast of New Zealand, has had a true pioneering spirit. This is captured today in the generous hospitality you'll find in Teichelmann's Bed and Breakfast, offered by your friendly hosts Frances and Brian.
Teichelmann's Bed and Breakfast offers a glimpse into New Zealand West Coast heritage, featuring fascinating memorabilia from days of pioneering exploration into the Southern Alps. Dr Ebenezer Teichelmann was a renowned mountaineer, photographer and conservationist and had this historic house built as his first home and medical rooms in 1910.
Rooms at our historic accommodation feature bedside lamps, night lights in bathroom, torch, magazines, clock radio, king beds, crisp cotton linen, pure NZ wool underlays, blanket and duvet covers, oil column heaters. Complimentary port and sherry in the lounge, tea and coffee facilities plus a range of herbal teas etc. To combat the coldest of Hokitika, West Coast winters Teichelmann's Bed and Breakfast is centrally heated. A permanently wired, NZ standards approved, smoke and heat detector system is fitted throughout the house.
