Bobby Skinstad, Paul & Lindi le Roux (from Cafe Roux) and Dougie Boyes are proud owners of The Toad in the Village in Noordhoek Farm Village, Western Cape, South Africa. The Toad in the Village is a gastro Pub in the building that formerly housed the popular Nags Head Restaurant. Their concept was to open the kind of place they would like to visit - a relaxed country Pub!
And so "The Toad", as it is affectionately known, was opened in December 2008 as a country Pub and Restaurant based at Noordhoek Farm Village. The terrific beer garden is laid out with garden grass- giving the rolling countryside feel amidst the oaks of Noordhoek Farm Village, Western Cape. The grassy beer garden is already popular with families who have little children, with the added bonus of a simple, delicious kids menu. The Toad epitomises a family Restaurant- not only is it kid friendly, with a fabulous kiddies menu, there is a big outside area and the jungle gym and playground is within the Noordhoek Farm Village grounds. It's great for parents when the kids can be entertained between 10h30 and 12h30 every Saturday with the free kids events hosted by Noordhoek Farm Village.
For adults however The Toad is well known for their signature dishes such as their smoked Eisbein; chicken, cranberry and pancko crummed camembert burgers, and their gourmet Pizzas are rated tops in the city.
There is an al -fresco deck upstairs, set amongst the characteristic oak trees of Noordhoek Farm Village and the inside is open, airy, spacious and not a crowded smoky Pub. In accordance with the new smoking laws, smoking is only permitted in the two outside areas. As proud South Africans and with an owner intricately involved with national sport (Bobby was a former Rugby Springbok!) live sport is very much part of the Toad and most sporting games are shown live on the television in the upstairs area.
The Toad has live South African music entertainment 5 nights a week (Tuesdays to Saturdays), including a locals jamming night every Tuesday. Crimson and Mixed Brew are regular gigs but check out the blog spot for updates to the music line up. With seating capacity for 260 people - you can find a private corner, or bring your mates or a crowd to hang out at the Toad. The Toad is THAT place where good friends and family get together - a destination popular with locals but welcoming visitors from all over Cape Town and the globe.
Bobby, Paul, Lindi, Dougie and their team look forward to welcoming you to The Toad.
