Tonka Seafoods is one of the last companies in Alaska to can smoked salmon. We are a family owned company located in Petersburg, a small vibrant fishing community. We combine the rich traditions and knowledge of our Norwegian and Native Alaskan Tlingit heritage to produce a unique smoked product.  All of our Seafood is caught, processed, and shipped directly to you from Southeast Alaska. Due to our location the Seafood we process has only been out of the water for a few hours before it hits our dock. Your fresh Seafood is only a few days old when it arrives at your door! Our forefathers began fishing commercially in Petersburg in the manner in which they had been taught for generations. Our grandfathers and fathers grew up in this same industry, and many of us in the third and fourth generations have continued that involvement. Our collective experience ranges from owning boats and catching fish to working in all levels at small and large Seafood companies.

For years we smoked and canned salmon for our own use, and to give as gifts. Tips and techniques learned from our grandparents led us to make a product that local folks really loved, and wanted to be able to buy. They wanted TOP QUALITY smoked salmon products they could not find on the market. Since we couldn’t afford to keep giving away major amounts of salmon we started a business that allows us to offer Seafood at reasonable prices with the same high standards passed down to us.
