Welcome to Tudor House, a Historic House in Weymouth, United Kingdom. Tudor House is one of Weymouth's few remaining Tudor buildings and furnished as the home of an early 17th century middle class family. Guided tours explain aspects of the life of the times.
Tudor House, built about 1600, originally stood on the edge of an inlet from the harbour and is thought to have been a merchant's house. Today it is owned and operated by Weymouth Civic Society, a registered charity.
A tour of this Historic House gives a fascinating insight into the history of Weymouth in the early seventeenth century during the heyday of Weymouth as a port for trade and exploration. Guides describe the domestic daily life of the times, including furniture and clothing, cooking and serving of food, lighting and candle making. A visit will provide a starting point for the study of our local history.
Group visits can be arranged throughout the year. School parties are especially welcome. The tour is adapted to topics in Key Stage 2 of the National curriculum for the study of Tudor and Stuart times.
