Dundalk, a busy manufacturing centre at the head of Dundalk Bay, is the county town of Louth. Dundalk racecourse is 1 1/2 miles (2 km) to the north. There is greyhound racing twice weekly and Salmon and trout fishing is available on the River Fane and other streams. Close to Unas Little Haven Bed and Breakfast there is a 18 hole golf course at Blackrock, horse-riding instruction and pony-trekking. Louth Foxhounds and Dundalk Harriers hunt the district. Tennis, squash, dancing, cinemas and other entertainment is available. An international theatre festival takes place every year. The forest park at Ravensdale has walks and nature trails.

The last week in May brings international drama to Dundalk for the annual May Time Festival. Drama clubs from various countries spend a week in Dundalk to compete in the International Drama Competition. As well as the main drama the pubs compete in pub drama, there is lunch time theatre and art exhibitions.
