Welcome to the USS Saratoga Museum, Providence, Rhode Island, United States. The US Naval Academy has transferred one of its most significant exhibits to the USS Saratoga Museum Foundation for permanent display here in Rhode Island. The donation consists of interpretive/educational signage plus a number of Museum-quality display cases. The collection includes more than 30 large panels, consisting of photos, texts and interpretive graphics, which tell and show the history of the US Navy during World War II and the Cold War.
As of May 1, 2007, the USS Saratoga Museum Foundation, Inc. Providence could identify about $10.5 million in cash, pledges and loans that can be applied to the project. Our position is that we have met the challenge of raising $10 million; that opinion is buttressed by the fact that Governor Carcieri himself announced our federally-guaranteed $6.5 million loan last October, congratulating us at the time for reaching the target he had established. We are proceeding with step two: completing the engineering studies to show the project is environmentally permittable.
