Located 1-2 hours drive from north Auckland, in Northland, 40 minutes south of Whangarei and halfway to the Bay of Islands, our small but spacious, clean and quiet seaside Holiday Park offers quality and an affordable variety of vacation options.

All are only a few metres walk to a safe swimming, good fishing, white sand beach where you can take a complimentary row boat to explore the estuary and wildlife reserve. Relax on the decks and enjoy the sounds of the surf tumbling over the shells or discover the bird life while you walk the shoreline.

At Waipu Cove Cottages & Camping feel secure knowing our Holiday Park standard was tested and approved by New Zealand's highest environment court and is annually inspected and graded Qualmark 4 Star Plus Holiday Park.

Nearby are a selection of shops, restaurants, cafe, golf courses, museum, horse treks, boat charter, glow-worm caves and walking track.

Waipu Cove Cottages and Camping, Waipu:
Two of our fully self-contained, self-catering Cottages are set on a rise among the pohutukawa trees, with extensive sea and island views. These modern 2-bedroom holiday homes sleep six each and feature full laundries, gas BBQs, bath, shower, full kitchen, lounge with Sky TV and heat pump. Ranchsider doors open to large decks and private lawns just a short walk to the beach.

Waipu Cove Cottages and Camping, Waipu:
Our original beach cottage was built in 1937. The construction materials were brought in by barge and the cottage has withstood the test of time, weathering cyclones and storms. It is one of the few genuine Kiwi baches (holiday homes) still in use. It has all the charm and character of yesteryear. Built of native kauri and rimu, it features a large clawfoot bath and pit-sawn wood lining. These are now complemented by new insulation and modern appliances: electric stove, fridge freezer, auto washing machine and dryer, gas BBQ, gas fire, and Sky TV. The cottage deck leads to a large front lawn which stretches out to the estuary and acres of wildlife refuge, adjacent to 30km of white sandy beach.

1-bedroom Studio Unit 4
Our free-standing self-contained studio unit with ensuite bathroom is a smaller but comfortable alternative to our Cottages. Cosy with a double and single bed and packed with features including Sky TV.

Backpacker rooms 5, 6, 7 and 8 at Waipu Cove Cottages and Camping, Waipu:
Four modern individual backpacker style rooms also available (adults only). Two smaller rooms each with a double bed can be rented nightly either as a double or single room. There is a larger twin room and a larger double room with a queen-size bed and sea views. Each room has its own utensil kit and linen and towels are an optional extra. All rooms open to a communal area for the rooms with a deck looking out to the sea. From these rooms you go downstairs to use communal facilities.

Powered Camp Sites
Waipu Cove Cottages and Camping, Waipu Cove. 12 powered Campsites are large and level, on the sea side of the hill well away from the road. Each site has power hookup, own switchable light, BBQ table (sun umbrella available), fresh water tap and waste water drain, recycle and refuse bin, individual clothes dry line and access to two free gas BBQs. A separate camper van waste water dump is available. Enjoy our quiet wilderness camping holiday with full, clean modern facilities you share with only a limited number of people.

Recreation activities
On site we have complimentary row boats, playground with trampoline, swing slide and volley ball court and our large barn built in 1950 is a games room with TV, table tennis and air hockey.
