Widemouth Farm Cottages is between Ilfracombe and Combe Martin, the gateway to Exmoor, on the North Devon coast, United Kingdom. We have spectacular views overlooking wonderful Watermouth Cove and 35 acres of gardens, woodland and a private beach on the Devon National Heritage Coastline. Widmouth Farm Cottages in Watermouth is in an area of outstanding natural beauty, and offers the perfect self catering holiday for families and people of all ages.
Our regular visitors return to our self-catering holiday Cottages to walk, fish, golf (special offers at Ilfracombe Golf Club), use our lovely beach or simply relax in this peaceful, tranquil setting. Our beach is just a 2 minute walk through the sheep fields from the Cottages!
We are open all year for self catering holidays, long or short breaks. Children are welcome and so are dogs & many other pets (excluding cats). We have daily animal feeding and handling sessions for visitors who wish to join in. This usually includes the sheep (lambs in spring, usually with one or two being bottle fed), tame goats, alpacas, pigs (piglets in summer), turkeys, geese, chickens, ducks, rabbits and guinea pigs!
Visitors to Widmouth Farm are free to roam our 35 acres of National Heritage coastland where stories abound of brandy smugglers and pirate ships hiding in the bay and caves. The television dramatisation of Enid Blyton's 'Five on a Treasure Island' was filmed on our private beach in 1996.
The Cottages have been tastefully converted from a round barn (which housed a 'jenny ring'), stone barns and workers Cottages circa.1800. Quality in Tourism inspects the premises annually and has awarded us the Visit Britain 3 Star Grading as we maintain very high standards of cleanliness and comfort. In Spring 2008 six Cottages were given new kitchens!
