Following the recent refurbishments, Yewfield Bed and Breakfast has been awarded a Visit Britain Quality in Tourism Rating of 5 Stars.
Yewfield Bed and Breakfast is set in a quiet elevated position with panoramic views over the Vale of Esthwaite, Lake Windermere and the Fells beyond.
Situated in over 30 acres of its own grounds, this impressive country house with its Gothic architecture dates back to 1859. Although now a private residence, we offer a few select rooms on a vegetarian Bed and Breakfast basis.
There are over 30 acres of land around the house, including native woodland, rough fell pasture, a small tarn and a stream. The grazed pasture is carefully managed giving priority to ecological considerations, which qualifies it to be part of the Environmentally Sensitive Areas Scheme.
Newly developed ornamental areas closer to the house include organic vegetable gardens, orchards, a herb patio and a mixed border. We are also experimenting with naturalistic styles and plantings such as a coppice garden, wildflower meadows, a fern corner and a wildlife pond.
A nature trail through the land and gardens guides the visitor through the grounds.
Yewfield Bed and Breakfast in Hawkshead, England, hosts classical concerts with exceptional musicians from around the world. These evenings are free and open to all.
Double and twin rooms at Yewfield Bed and Breakfast are individually appointed to a very high standard, all with en-suite bath and shower, TV/DVD, radio, and tea and coffee making facilities. Many rooms have been recently refubished assisted by Tourism Connect with local herdwick carpets and accredited oak panelling.
Our tower suite suite is decorated in a more traditional manner and offers unrivalled views across the Vale of Esthwaite with Lake Windermere in the distance. This luxury suite includes a separate dressing/lounge area that overlooks the tarn and gardens.
The large lounge offers a quiet space to relax and enjoy the fine views, music or book collection from the extensive library allowing you to make the most of your relaxing break in the Lake District.
