Newport State Park
Newport State Park in Ellison Bay is the only formerly designated wilderness park in Wisconsin, USA and with over 2,373 acres and 11 miles of Lake Michigan shoreline is perfect for hiking and exploring. There are evergreen and hardwood forests, wetlands and upland meadows, and the park has hike-in backpack campsites, and all supplies must be carried in and out. Newport State Park is open year round, and has wonderful hiking and biking trails, and there is a picnic area on Newport Bay, you can also bring your own small watercraft and flotation devices, but there is no boat launch at the park, fishing is also allowed and in winter it's perfect for cross country skiing.

Ellison Bluff State Natural Area
Ellison Bluff State Natural Area in Ellison Bay, Wisconsin is a limestone capped Niagara escarpment extending from New York into Wisconsin and forming the Door Peninsula. This densely wooded two tiered rock terrace offers spectacular views from the bluff tops and there are birds, rare snail species and other wildlife, the area was declared a State Natural Area in 2002. Ellison Bluff State Natural Area is owned by Door County, and there are hiking trails that provide access to the natural area.
