Heide Museum of Modern Art in Hamilton welcomes thousands on thousands of visitors annually, for an inspirational, educational and insightful experience of both contemporary and modern art, landscape and architecture. Starting life in 1934 as the home of John and Sunday Reed, Heide Museum of Modern Art has since grown into one of the most important cultural institutions in Australia. With its constantly changing program of exhibits, the museum displays works from not only the Heide collection, but also from private and public collections and individual artists. Through various generous donations and individual gifts, Heide Museum of Modern Art has been able to expand its already vast collection of paintings, drawings and sculptures. Although the museum places emphasis on Australian art, they have always made international artists a vital part of their program, with works by Picasso, Henry Moore, and works from Thailand, Philippines and Vietnam.
