The Jackie Clarke Collection
The Jackie Clarke Collection in Ballina, Co. Mayo, Ireland is a fascinating collection Irish historical material by one man, Jackie Clarke, who was a businessman and genius collector. Here visitors can view over 100,000 items spanning 400 years and the main exhibit space has an interactive touch screen, come view artefacts, rare books, proclamations, political cartoons, posters, pamphlets, works by Sir John Lavery, hunger strike material, maps and so much more. The building that houses the Jackie Clarke Collection was built in 1881, used as a bank and then renovated and refurbished, and now hosts an award winning exhibition centre for this collection, there is also a lovely walled garden to visit, and many events throughout the year.
