Westmoreland Museum of American Art
The Westmoreland Museum of American Art in Greensburg, PA, owes it existence to the generousity of Mary Marhand Woods, a staunch patron of the arts, who bequeathed her entire estate for the building of a museum in Greensburg. The museum officially opened its doors to the public in 1959 and its focus was, and still is, to collect and exhibit art of America and southwestern Pennsylvania. At the Westmoreland Museum of American Art we believe that our collections of art give new meaning to words such as freedom, opportunity and diversity, which words relate to an American experience brought to life, and we have also made it our mission to educate the public through our collections, preservations and presentations of American art.
