An interesting and popular exhibit, 1975 F14-A Tomcat aircraft features wings that can be extended to the fuselage to enable successful takeoffs and landings, and its main task was to protect carrier battle groups during the war. Carolinas Aviation Museum in Charlotte, is priviledged to be run by dedicated and knowledgeable volunteer docents who are passionate about all things relating to aviation. They have extensive knowledge of the various aircraft on display, and the role that the aircraft played in the shaping of our history. Climb aboard one of our aircraft and sit in its cockpit to feel what it would have felt like to fly one. In 1991 Floyd and Lois Wilson saved the original hangar at Charlotte Douglas Airport from being torn down, and together with a group of aviation enthusiasts, formed Carolinas Historical Aviation Commission, and their vision was to preserve the aviation history of North and South Carolina. The first aircraft acquired by the organization was a North American T-28 Trojan. Carolinas Aviation Museum is a great destination for school field trips, scouts and home schools, and we can also host business meetings and other functions. With our numerous and interesting displays we want visitors to the museum to be able to broaden their aviation knowledge and also to have a memorable visit. READ MORE

Aviation Museum of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky, was founded in 1978, and is a non-profit educational organization. The museum has displays of military and civilian aircraft which range from restored vintage airliners and barnstomers to historic war planes and today's aircraft. The museum today incorporates 12,000 square feet of exhibit space, a library, and an aircraft restoration and repair shop, and we offer docent-guided or self-guided tours of the museum's permanent collection of historic airplanes, documents, photos and training equipment. A scholar field trip to the Aviation Museum of Kentucky is an exciting way of teaching outside of the classroom, and students can explore the artefacts, historic architecture and documents, close up. Montrose Air Station Heritage Centre tells the story of the RFC/RAF Montrose deeds of men and women in the two world wars via photographs and artifacts.
