Heide Landscape
Heide Landscape is six hectares of gardens and parklands at Heide Museum of Modern Art, Bulleen, Australia, and is open to the public all year round. These gardens have been developed over many years, in conjunction with the museum. Originally a run down, treeless dairy farm, the new owners, John and Sunday Reed immediately took action and started a kitchen garden and also initiated a expansive planting program of exotic trees, and enhanced the circular driveway with a lavender hedge and fragrant ornamental flowers and roses. The aim of John and Sunday Reed was to create an informal park forest. In 1936 the Reeds included native plants in their garden, and to this day the Heide kitchen gardens are still functional and supply the cafe with fresh produce on a daily basis. Today Heide Landscape gardens are enjoyed by families and includes a sculpt park as well as several of the original, heritage listed, gardens.
