Fort Dunree in Buncrana, Co. Donegal Ireland was an important defensive site throughout history, and today visitors come for the stunning natural beauty and abundant wildlife in one of the most peaceful locations in Inishowen. Showcasing one of the best collections of coast artillery guns in the world, the museum presents the unique history and the role the fort played, with vibrant and colourful displays, DVD's and interactive technology. A visit includes a film in the audiovisual theatre, access to the displays, and the vital role of the fort regarding coastal defence. Fort Dunree also has underground bunkers which house a collection of artefacts, and the Saldanha Suite is currently home to the Rockhill collection, an exhibition of military memorabilia and a private collection.
