Arklow Museum

Museum in Arklow, Leinster, Ireland

  • Arklow Maritime Museum

The Arklow Maritime Museum in Arklow, Ireland has been in existence for over thirty years, and in this time has continuously endeavoured to improve its displays and facilities. Maritime records of Arklow show that in the 9th century the town and port was established as a permanent basis by the Vikings. Arklow seamen usually returned home from their seafaring expeditions with interesting souvenirs, and at Arklow Maritime Museum we are fortunate to be able to display many of these items in the museum, such as models of boats, scrimshaw, paintings, fancy work and photographs.
