Volcano: Volcanic eruptions, with lava spewing from the top of mountains, are images we all know. We think of dormant volcanoes as craters filled with bubbling molten lava at mountain summits. Volcanoes can be basic cinder cones, or larger mountains, formed by numerous different kinds of eruptions, called stratovolcanoes. There are other forms of volcano too, such as sub glacial volcanoes.
The Volcano which is perhaps most well known is that of Mount Versuvius, Italy, which catastrophically destroyed the Roman town Pompeii. Mount Fuji in Japan is another well-known volcano.
Volcanoes can be found all over the world, and it is always a fascinating excursion to tour a nearby volcano.
