The Royal Albatross Centre located on the tip of the Otago Peninsula just 45 minutes from Dunedin, offers guided tours to view these majestic tropical seabirds through the Nature Reserve into the viewing Observatory. Here at Taiaroa Head you can see the world's only mainland royal albatross breeding ground and witness these massive birds with incredible wingspans coming in to land. The Royal Albatross Centre offers a unique tour telling the story of the Northern Royal Albatross and the People of Pukekura/Taiaroa Head of Waitangi. The classic tour offers a guided your of the story of the Northern Royal Albatross and includes a short movie, and the guided tour of the underground Fort Taiaroa is a fascinating experience with views of the fully restored Armstrong Disappearing Gun.
