  • The Jack Miner Migratory Bird Foundation

    The Jack Miner Migratory Bird Foundation in Kingsville, Ontario was established in 1931 to continue the good work of Jack Miner who pioneered the banding of migrating waterfowl and founded the migratory waterfowl refuge system. This charitable organisation operates soley on grants and with a long history going back to when Jack formed one of the first Game Protective associations in 1900. In 1904 Jack Miner who founded the Jack Miner Migratory Bird Sanctuary for the conservation of migrating Canada geese and wild ducks, was dubbed the Father of Conservation. To this day Jacks work is honoured by the board of directors and he was inducted into the Legends of the Outdoors Hall of Fame for his pioneering work. His house is open to the public and there's a viewing platform and gazebo, and a 5km trail system in the south side of the property in the Jack Miner woods.
