Lake Champlain Maritime Museum in Vergennes, Vermont is dedicated to preserving and sharing the history of Lake Champlain, with exhibits and collections that appeals to all ages. There's a 1776 gunboat the Philadelphia II which is docked at the scenic Lake Champlain waterfront, and visitors are invited to step aboard and explore, plus the Nautical Archaeology Center offers information on some of the lake's 300+ historic shipwrecks where you can chat with archaeologists at the Conservation Laboratory. There are more than a dozen exhibit buildings presenting the maritime history and nautical archeology of the Champlain Valley with hands on experiences and collections reflecting the maritime heritage, it's a wonderful experience.
