The Iditarod Trail Committee, Inc. offers you the last great race on earth, a race of over 1,150 miles where man and beast are tested to the utmost limit over mountain ranges, frozen rivers, dense forests, desolate tundra and windswept coastline, let the fun begin. Here you will enjoy adventure tourism to the extreme as you and your pack of sledding dogs battle the elements from Anchorage, in south central Alaska, to Nome on the western Bering Sea coast. Mushers and their teams of 12 to 16 dogs, come from all walks of life, and the race is run primarily by volunteers with headquarters manned at headquarters at Anchorage, Fairbanks, Juneau, Nome and Wasilla, so come pit man and animal against nature, the Iditarod trail awaits.
