Piedras Blancas Light Station
Piedras Blancas Light Station in Cambria, California, is a historical lighthouse that was built in 1874 to a height of 100 feet, and after structural damage resulting from earthquakes, 3 levels were removed and today stands at a height of 70 feet. Access to this unique lighthouse is only through guided tours on specific days, and these tours give visitors an interesting insight into the vital role that a lighthouse served in maritime navigation. Volunteer guides at Piedras Blancas Light Station are knowledgeable and friendly, and with binoculars conveniently placed in the lighthouse visitors are able to see seals, pelicans, whales, dolphins frolicking in the surrounding waters.
