Fort Hunter Mansion and Park
Fort Hunter Mansion and Park in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, has been many things in the past, a war fort, serving frontier commerce, an exclusive private estate, and now this this mansion set on specatcular 40 acres of park land, located along the serene Susquehanna River is open for guided tours of the mansion, recreational activities and fun, interesting outings. The Historical Society of Dauphin County
The Historical Society of Dauphin County in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, was established in 1869, and is presently located in a beautiful stone house that was built by John Harris, an early settler. The historical society offers interesting guided tours of the Harris-Cameron mansion, which is also available as a rental facility for weddings, business functions, celebrations and many other private events for up to 100 guests. The Historical Society of Dauphin County also administers the library, located in an adapted 1890 brick stable, that contains thousands of books pertaining to local history and interesting genealogical data, collections of historical records, photo archives and many other educational and interesting collections.
