The beaches curve like an Aruban smile along the western shores, soft and white and fringed with palm trees, sloping gently toward the calm, transparent turquoise of the Caribbean. The waves of the Atlantic crash like incessant thunder against the northern cliffs, carving high, arched coral bridges and deep, dark, secret limestone grottoes. Between the two extremes, in a desert landscape where the cacti grow to the height of a man, great building-sized tumbles of boulders stand like the legacy of some ancient, angry god. Winding roads lead to rocky passes and hidden coves, or sometimes to nowhere at all. Green parakeets call to their mates, and troupials flash billiant orange against the deep blue of the Caribbean sky. This is not the Caribbean as usual. This is Aruba! And, if it's true that opposites attract, then this could well be the most attractive island of them all.

Grand Turk is the administrative and political capital of the Turks & Caicos Islands and Cockburn Town has been the seat of government since 1766. This small island is bursting with turn-of-the-century Caribbean charm. Grand Turk is six miles long and just over a mile wide. Like the other islands, Grand Turk is blessed with miles of quiet sugary beaches and is close to several uninhabited cays just waiting to be explored. At the north point of the island, a channel to the sea gives access to North Creek, the only hurricane shelter for yachts traveling between Nassau and Puerto Rico.

Kralendijk is the capital city and main port of the island of Bonaire, in the Netherlands Antilles. The language spoken in the town is Papiamentu, but Dutch and English are widely used. In Dutch, Kralendijk means "coral reef" or "coral dike". The Papiamentu name for the town is Playa or "beach".

Saba Rock is a small island of the British Virgin Islands in the Caribbean, approximately an acre and a half in size. It sits entirely within the North Sound of Virgin Gorda. It was formerly owned and occupied by Bert Kilbride, a marine archaeologist who for many years served as Her Majesty's Receiver of Wreck in the Territory. It was subsequently sold and now has a small hotel and restaurant on it.
