Pollard's Point
World Directory, North America, Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador, Newfoundland
This logging community (Pop. 500) was once the site of the long abandoned gold mines. While the mineshafts are not safe for exploration you may view an abandoned shaft from the roadside. The sheltered harbor is a good place to launch a boat to go cod jigging, squid jigging or fishing for sea trout at the mouth of the Main River, just down the shore. Fish Corner Brook stream for trout or grilse. Hike to the top of the huge mountain behind the community for a panoramic view of the harbor or take a stroll along the beach at Giles Cove.
