Gamvik

Gamvik is a municipality in Finnmark county, Norway. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Mehamn. The municipality of Gamvik was separated from Tana on 1 July 1913.
The municipality consists of the eastern half of the Nordkyn peninsula. Kinnarodden is the northernmost point of mainland Europe (The North Cape is on Magerøya island). Most people live in the village of Mehamn (about 700 inhabitants), which has an airport, Mehamn Airport, and is also a port of call of the hurtigruten coastal boats. Gamvik and Skjånes are two other villages in the county. The Slettnes lighthouse near the village of Gamvik is the northernmost lighthouse on the mainland of Europe.

Surtsey is a volcanic island off the southern coast of Iceland. It is also the southernmost point of Iceland. It was formed in a volcanic eruption which began 130 metres (426 ft) below sea level, and reached the surface on 15 November 1963. The eruption lasted until 5 June 1967, when the island reached its maximum size of 2.7 km2 (1.0 sq mi). Since then, wind and wave erosion have caused the island to steadily diminish in size: as of 2002, its surface area was 1.4 km2 (0.54 sq mi)
