Rebuilt in 1612 with no domestic features, it is believed it was built as a fortified warehouse and watchtower, and was one of the three castles that guarded the harbour of Larne in Larne Lough. Olderfleet Castle is a not very spectacular attraction and ruin in an industrial area, but well worth a visit for it's historical value.
