Britannia Bay is situated on a peninsula about 160 km from Cape Town, 35 km from Vredenburg, the main commercial center, and about 47 km from Saldanha Bay.
The dual character of the town, with the older holiday cottages in the original part of Britannia Bay and its village way of life, contrasting with the modern spacious homes on the Golden Mile, Sunset Beach, Flagship and Shelley Point - these developments, offer wonderful sea views, a real sense of exclusivity and elegance, combined with the calmness and relaxed atmosphere of West Coast living. Miles of unspoilt safe beaches, the shallow bay teeming with Southern Right and Humpback whales, resident pods of the rare Heaviside dolphin - all combine to make Britannia Bay a very special destination.
Both Britannia Reef and the North Blinder are visible from Britannia Bay and small fishing vessels are regularly seen on their way to and from the Harbour at St Helena Bay. A safe launching site for small craft and the tranquil waters of the bay, makes Britannia Bay ideal for water sport enthusiasts. Seal Island is a mere 10 minutes away by small boat - the perfect fishing, diving and Cray fishing spot!
