Historically known as Chach, Shash and Binkat, Tashkent is a multiethnic population, with ethnic Uzbeks as the majority. Tashkent has a rich history, with one part a newly built capital and the other part a quiet Uzbek town. This city offers a heady mix of contradictions and is a fascinating place to visit.
