St Kitts bustles, while Nevis is sleepy (though relaxation and a rum punch are prerequisites on both islands!) The tiny island has some 9,000 offshore businesses (about 1 per inhabitant) registered and operating under strict secrecy laws. In fact, disagreements about offshore banking activities triggered a rift between the two islands that almost led to Nevis's secession.
Until recently, the beaches of the Southeast Peninsula were only accessible by yacht. They have beautiful white sand and offer stunning vistas of the tropical splendour of sister island Nevis. On the northern end you will find grey volcanic sand beaches, worn from the black igneous rock which makes up the island. Sister island Nevis is known for its long picture-perfect Pinney's Beach with soft, sugar-fine white sands punctuated by coconut palms. Just behind the beach lies a uniquely South Pacific-like lagoon.
