Aschach at the Danube in Austria
The charming market at the Danube cycle track lies between Passau and Linz, where the Danube leaves the tightness of the “sow forest” and into the open “Eferdinger basin” flows. Aschach was mentioned in the year 777 with the establishment of the monastery Kremsmünster for the first time and received to 1512 by emperors Maximilian the market right and the market coat of arms.
By the central situation at the Danube with the Danube transition (in former times a roll ferry, today the Danube bridge) and the binding to the railway Aschach is for many centuries an important commercial knot.
A characteristic of Aschach is the market place open to the Danube. The pseudo fronts are similar from the architectural style as in other city and market places at the Danube, at the Inn or to salt oh. The “market place” is however only one-sided - the view from the old community centres goes thus directly on the guest gardens and the Danube promenade.
