The cosy holiday area Hou is situated by the gentle and child-friendly coast of the Kattegat.
Hou lies about 8 km north of Hals, right at the Kattegat. The holiday houses are situated in a preserved forest area behind the coast, which stretches far inland on both sides of Hou.
The well-preserved old fishing houses are evidence of the fact that Hou is an old fishing hamlet. The town has a modern and evocative marina with a long pier. The sculpture of an aeolian harp is the landmark of the harbour and consists of the sterns of 2 broken up fishing vessels. The town has more interesting sights, i.a. a gallery and the battery by the south beach of Hou. Hou offers more grocery stores and more restaurants.
Beach
Both north and south of Hou you will find a white, mild and traffic-free sandy beach, which is very suitable for children. The beach has the Blue Flag. The water is calm, shallow and almost without waves. At a few spots around Hou the forest and meadows stretch almost down to the waters edge.
Nature
The nature behind the beach is characterized by lovely forest areas, which are encircled by an undulating landscape with moor and meadow.
Activities
The area offers more Put & Take fishponds as well as a golf course. A swimming baths is available in a holiday centre, and you can bowl in Hals. Good nature experiences await you along the many marked walking paths and bicycle routes of the area.
Throughout the summer, various activities like town fairs as well as open by night and music events are arranged here.
