Schliersee -  A perfect little lake town, lost in the calm serenity of the Bavarian Alps, Schliersee feels like an older, slower Germany. A pastoral village, happily oriented around a glassy lake, Schliersee is a community full of neighbors, of walking paths, family restaurants, and churches. Schliersee is only a scant 55km from the kinetic city of Munich, but the pace, the tone, and the mood of the town does not suggest such a close proximity to Bavaria's capital.

Ludwig's storybook Neuschwanstein castle is a short day trip away, as is Austria's famous Salzburg. Schliersee, though tiny, is known both for its quality spa-resorts and schnapps.
