The Sorpesee also known as Sorpetalsperre, is a reservoir in Hochsauerland, North Rhine-Westphalia. Just as the Biggesee, Möhnesee, the dam is one of the feeders to large dams in the Ruhr Association Sauerland. It offers water supply and power generation as well as leisure and recreation in the area.
The Sorpesee lies to the north of the Natural Parks Homert, southwest of Arnsberg in the Sundern belonging to the city area between the hamlets and Langscheid Amecke. It is supported by the Sorpe.
The Sorpesee provides recreational opportunities such as diving, rowing, sailing, surfing, beach volleyball, golf, fishing, hiking, rock climbing and others, including many people from the Ruhr area can be used. The passenger passenger ship MS Sorpesee stands ready during the tourist season for excursion trips.
Altogether there are four stations at the adjacent campgrounds DLRG ; on Vorbecken (DLRG Amecke OG), campground 3 (DLRG Arnsberg OG), campground 2 (DLRG Sundern OG) and the beach (DLRG Langscheid OG), the largest at the lake; DRC, as well as a station on the 3rd campground
In 2006, along the western shore - parallel to the shore land or road between the towns of Sundern Amecke-and-Sundern Langscheid a new bicycle and sidewalk was built.
