Today Heiligenhafen with its approximately 9,500 inhabitants is a viable town, whose surface area covers1.813 hectares.
The center of the city of Heiligenhafen and the old part of town ranges from 700 year old churches with very beautiful spires, to an 1882 house built city hall and the beautiful community centres, which were reorganized partially in the context of the town planning promotion. This old part of town is separated into a west east direction by the mountain route and the Thulboden and into the south north direction by the mill road and the bridging race.
