Ikaria Island is part of the North-Eastern Aegean Islands. It is a very beautiful island full of verdant forests, waterfalls, streams and beautiful beaches. Ikaria has open to tourism very recently and, because of that, has kept its traditional and authentic colours. This site provides all the needed information about Ikaria such as its beaches, its accommodations, its villages, its way of life, its sites and more.
The Villages
Small villages with a strong traditional atmosphere can be found on the beautiful island of Ithaca. The main village and capital is the one called Agios Kirikos and is where the best of the traditional architecture of the island can be seen. The second port of Ithaca is the lively village of Evdilos, full of clean little houses and flowers. The lovely touristy resorts of Armenistis and Gialiskari are charming every visitor.
Ikaria beaches
The verdant island Ikaria has very attractive beaches. Many of those beautiful places are coil up in picturesque coves, surrounded by impressive or strange rocky formations, while others are extending their golden sand on many kilometres. All beaches in Ikaria have crystalline azure or turquoise waters and a very few are organised.
The Nightlife
Ikaria is not the ideal place for those seeking an intense and lively nightlife. Nevertheless, a few big nightclubs are located in the capital, Agios Kirikos and are staying open until morning. Bars playing Greek and international music are available in the capital and in the villages of Armenistis, Gialiskari and Evdilos.
