Kussnacht am Rigi

It is situated at the north shore of Lake Lucerne and at the south shore of Lake Zug below mount Rigi (1797 m). It is not to be confused with Kusnacht at the north shore of Lake Zurich.

A small resort, it is known chiefly as the scene of the killing of Gessler by William Tell . A nearby 17th-century chapel commemorates the legendary exploit.

In 1424 Küssnacht became a district of the Canton of Schwyz.

A well-known folklore event on December 5 each year is the Klausjagen.
