Felixstowe - relax and unwind by the sea..
Felixstowe is an attractive Victorian town, known as the "Sun Spot of the East Coast". It possesses extensive and beautiful gardens, along its long, level promenade and in the town centre. The seafront gardens are listed on the English Heritage Register of Parks and Gardens of National Importance.
There are plenty of restaurants and cafes in the beach areas, along the seafront and in the town centre, which has a large range of chain stores as well as individual specialist shops.
The Spa Pavilion Theatre offers a wide variety of shows including ballet, annual drama festivals and a traditional pantomime and is home to a fantastic sea view restaurant.
There is a cinema showing the latest films, and many amusements and childrens’ activities. The seafront Leisure Centre has a swimming pool, a bowling rink, a soft-play area for children and a gym, as well as a catering outlet and bar.
A fine links golf course can be found at Felixstowe Ferry where there is a foot ferry across the estuary to Bawdsey the birthplace of radar. Nearby there are sports facilities at Brackenbury Sports Centre.
At the other end of Felixstowe there is the Landguard Peninsular, with the Nature Reserve, Landguard Fort and Felixstowe Museum. Very popular with residents and visitors is the viewpoint area on the Landguard Peninsular, where container ships and cruise liners can be watched going in and out of the Ports of Harwich and Felixstowe.
