Shell Point is a small unincorporated community in Wakulla County, Florida, United States of America.
Strolling along the beach at Shell Point, Florida on a regular basis over the years makes one acutely aware that others, many others, have been there before. Looking past the drink can and the plastic bag, one sees bits of Indian pottery, old French, English, and Spanish wine bottle shards, Spanish olive jar bits, broken European ceramic ware, and broken bricks from the Civil War period. When the channel was dredged in the 1960's, many beach combers filled shoe boxes as they picked up those assorted artifacts (along with fossilized material such as shark teeth and whale bone fragments). An occasional flint tool or broken whelk shell (showing signs of use as a hammer shell) could be found when the dredging was first finished.
