Bronx Zoo2012-09-12
Located in The Bronx, New York, New York, United States
Bronx Zoo in The Bronx, New York City, has been in existence since 1899, has been a popular destination ever since its opening, and since 1970, the Friends of the Zoo have been conducting guided tours to teach visitors about our animals and exhibits. We also have interactive children's programs for budding zoologists, giving them an idea of what it would be like to work at the zoo. The Tiger Mountain is a 'must see', and is one of the most awesome exhibits where visitors get to watch the Siberian tigers go through tireless fitness routines and fun activities with their handlers, sadly these majestic big cats are part of the seriously endangered species. Bronx Zoo has created a typical African savanna complete with lions, storks and zebras. There are also herds of gazelles, nyalas, African wild dogs and giraffes, it might not be Serengeti, but runs a close second. Our spacious greenhouse and lush wild meadow is where visitors will experience the wonder of butterflies and a variety of bugs, and in our conservatory, with soothing classical music in the background, you can wander amongst julias, monarchs and many more winged beautiesREAD MORE
