The Canyon Lake Dam was constructed to serve two purposes - flood control and water conservation. The construction of Canyon Dam on the edge of the Balcones Escarpment has been very effective in protecting the lower Guadalupe River Basin. The top of the Dam is a great place to walk or jog; everyday you will see several people exercising and taking in the fresh lake air.
