Just 18km north of Whitianga, on the beautiful north-east coast of the Coromandel Peninsula lies the tranquil beachside village of Kuaotunu. This quiet town is bordered by a stunning, white, sandy beach where swimming and fishing opportunities are amazing.

The local store at Kuaotunu is famous for its tasty icecream, and you can play a great round of golf at the Matarangi golf course. The local bush is beautiful and a short walk will give you the chance to see and hear some of the beautiful native birds that inhabit the bush.

From Kuaotunu you can easily explore all the other fantastic attractions of the Coromandel Peninsula including Whitianga, Coromandel Township and Hot Water Beach. Just over the hill from Kuaotunu, you will find the two small bays of Otama and Opito. These bays are even more secluded, uncrowded and great for swimming.
