Lake Macquarie is one of the largest coastal saltwater lakes in the Southern Hemisphere, and, as you can see, it is immense in size. Stretching almost 25 kilometres from north to south, there is 175km of lake foreshore. It is 3.2 kilometres at its widest point and offers a variety of activities both on and off the water. Forster is a large coastal town in the Mid North Coast region of New South Wales, Australia, in the Great Lakes Council LGA, about 308 km (191 mi) north-north-east of Sydney. It is immediately adjacent to its twin, Tuncurry, which is the smaller of the two towns. The usual local pronunciation of the name is 'Foster'.
