Typical attractive seaside resort town on the Great Ocean Road Located 186 km south west of Melbourne on the Great Ocean Road, Apollo Bay is a seaside resort with lots of motels and holiday accommodation. Its primary appeal is that it is accessible from Melbourne and is one of the key towns on a particularly beautiful stretch of coastline.

Barwon Heads is part of the Great Ocean Road region. Located on the mouth of the Barwon River it has a population of about 1300 permanent residents that swells to many times that around the Christmas holidays. It has always been a holiday resort providing plenty of opportunities for relaxation.

Colac is located within two hours west of Melbourne and renowned for its magnificent southern coastline, the Otway rainforests and the northern lakes and craters district. Kennett River is a small resort town surrounded by natural forest and wonderful bird and animal life. Kennett River Beach is located at the mouth of the river, and the small sand beach is surrounded by the road, rocks and reefs.

Long renowned for its natural scenic values, Lorne is a highly pleasant and very fashionable seaside resort on the Great Ocean Road. Straggling around several kilometres of fine coastline, Lorne is backed by the Otway Ranges which form a part of Angahook-Lorne State Park. The sidewalk cafes and boutiques of Mountjoy Parade, along with the beaches and foreshore reserves, lend Lorne something of a Mediterranean air.

The region has 16 golf courses within easy access, nature walking, horse riding, swimming, surfing and fishing. There is plenty to do for everyone, of any age.

Port Campbell is situated at the centre of the national park which bears its name and includes the 12 Apostles, Loch Ard Gorge, London Bridge, The Grotto, and some spectacular coastline. Located around 260km. south-west of Melbourne, it is set among some of the most breathtaking and spectacular scenery of south-west Victoria.

With Victoria’s second city, Geelong, just 22km to the north and with two of the nation’s best surf beaches, Bells and Jan Juc, at the front doorstep, it was inevitable that Torquay would emerge as one of the state’s most popular coastal resorts. Standing at the eastern gateway to the Great Ocean Road, Torquay also introduces visitors to spectacular seafront drives west to Anglesea and the scenic gems of Victoria’s magnificent southern coast. The international surfing spotlight is focused on Torquay at Easter for the traditional Bells Beach titles, while recreational surfers can run the wave gauntlet secure in the knowledge that the beach is guarded by volunteers from Victoria’s largest surf lifesaving club.
