The Achensee is a lake north of Jenbach in Tyrol, Austria. It is the largest lake within the federal state, and has a maximal depth of 133 metres. Together with the Achental valley it parts the Karwendel mountain range in the west from the Brandenberg Alps in the east.

What it is, is an easy going, fun, ski resort. One where there does not seem to be a great distinction between visitors who are older and more financially stable, and the tremendous young crowd that Kirchberg attracts, who, more often than not, are watching their budgets very closely.

Zell am See is the capital of the Zell am See district in the Austrian state of Salzburg. It is the second largest city in the Pinzgau with about 10,000 inhabitants. Zell am See is a tourist destination and a transportation hub for the region.
