Bowness-on-Windermere is a sprawling tourist town on the shore of Windermere, about halfway along the 12 mile length of the lake between Waterhead at the North end, and Lakeside at the South end. It developed after the opening of the railway line from Oxenholme and Kendal to Windermere in 1847. Bowness was the nearest accessible point on the lake. The Victorian influence can be seen everywhere - in the late 19th century, wealthy businessmen from Lancashire built large residences overlooking the lake, and many of these have now been converted to hotels

The medieval walled town of Conwy is so historically important it has been recognised as a 'World Heritage Site'. The walk around the top of the town walls is unique in Wales.

Dewsbury is a market town within the Metropolitan Borough of Kirklees, in West Yorkshire, England. It lies by the River Calder and the Calder and Hebble Navigation. The town is dominated by hills, notably Earlsheaton, Dewsbury Moor, Staincliffe and Thornhill. The town centre is at 40 m-55 m above sea level, rising to 110 m at Earlsheaton and Batley Carr, and 230 m at Grange Moor. The approach down from Earlsheaton through the Wakefield Road cutting, constructed in 1830, is dramatic with the view of the town centre nestling in the Calder Valley opening up as you descend.

Douglas on the Isle of Man, since 1869, has been the Island's capital and the main tourist and commercial centre. Here, too, are the Legislative Buildings of its ancient parliament Tynwald whose origins go back over a thousand years when the Island became a Viking kingdom. The magnificent sweep of Douglas Bay, against the background of green hills, has a charm hard to equal anywhere. Douglas was a pioneer in illuminations and at night presents a scene of spectacular beauty, never to be forgotten.

Hawkshead is a village in the Lake District, England. It is one of the prettiest villages in the Lake District with many buildings dating from the 1600s. It has a lively community and a high pub to population ratio.

Derwent Water, the most picturesque lake in Cumbria is only a ten-minute stroll, where you can catch the regular ferry to any of the six jetties around the lake. Liverpool is a city and metropolitan borough of Merseyside, England, along the eastern side of the Mersey Estuary. Llandudno is the largest seaside resort in Wales, and lies on a flat land between the Welsh mainland and the Great Orme peninsula. The town's award winning pier on the North Shore was built in 1878. On a clear day one can see the mountains of Snowdonia rising over the town.

Coniston is a village located in the southern part of the Lake District National Park, between Coniston Water and Coniston Old Man. Coniston is a popular spot for hill-walking and rock-climbing; there are fine walks to be had on the nearby Furness Fells and Grizedale Forest, and some of the finest rock in the Lake District on the eastern face of Dow Crag, three miles from the village.

Cockermouth is a town that lies at the confluence of the River Cocker as it flows into the River Derwent. It is located on the northwest fringe of the English Lake District. Landmarks include the sizeable but partly ruined Norman castle, the home of Pamela, Lady Egremont. Built at the confluence of the Rivers Cocker and Derwent, the castle has a tilting tower which hangs Pisa-like over Jennings Brewery. The castle, with its preserved dungeons, is only opened to the public once a year during the annual town festival.

Workington is a town and port on the west coast of Cumbria, England at the mouth of the River Derwent.

Rhyl is a seaside town on the Irish Sea, in the county of Denbighshire (within the preserved county of Clwyd, and formally the historic county of Flintshire), northeast Wales, at the mouth of the River Clwyd. To the west is the suburb of Kinmel Bay, with the resort of Towyn further west, Prestatyn to the east and Rhuddlan to the south.

Bassenthwaite Lake is one of the largest lakes in the Lake District of England. It is long and narrow, approximately 4 miles (6.4 km) long and 3/4 mile wide, but is also extremely shallow, with a maximum depth of about 70 feet (21 m). The lake lies at the foot of Skiddaw, near the town of Keswick.
