It is place of unspoiled natural beauty with lifestyle so often imagined, but so rarely attained. Tourists find numerous reasons to visit this ancient Mediterranean town. Some because they simply want to spend a pleasant vacation; others to explore the cultural and historical monuments; still more to relax and enjoy nature at its most pristine state.

The old town was completed in the 13th century and remains virtually unchanged to the present day. Tall ramparts surround it and there are only two entrances to the old town which lead to the Stradun, the city's promenade. One of the greatest pleasures for many visitors is to have a drink in one of the nearby cafes and watch the world go by, whilst they themselves are being watched by the city patron, St. Blaise, or Sveti Vlaho as the locals call him. In 1991/2, the Serbs shelled the city causing considerable damage, but thanks to local effort and international aid, the old town has been restored to its former beauty.

Barcelona has transformed itself from smug backwater into one of the most dynamic and stylish capitals in the world. Summer is serious party time, with week-long festa fun. But year-round the city sizzles - it's always on the biting edge of architecture, food, fashion, style, music and good times. Barcelona's enviable position between the mountains and the sea ensures year-round outdoor fun.

A few kilometers beyond Peniscola is Benicarlo, situated amid orange-groves and vineyards. The parish church (1743) has an octagonal tower with an azulejo-clad dome and magnificent doorwat. The 18th century Casa Del Marques de Benicarlo now houses a small "kitchen museum" with a variety of old domestic equipment.

Best known apart from the capital, Barcelona, is of course the Mediterranean coast, Costa Brava, with ample beaches and mild climate, doubtlessly a first rate touristical attraction. One shouldn't forget anyhow that Catalonia offers as well high mountain ranges, the Pyrenees in the north, the curious formations of Montserrat, the inactive volcans of Garrotxa, and a wide plain area in the region's center.

Sitges is called the jewel on the Mediterranean. The village has many faces, modern and traditional, cosmopolitan and historical: Spanish folklore alongside international charm. Sitges, once a fishing village situated in an open bay with a coastline stretching over four kilometers, is located in a breathtaking landscape surrounded by the nature reserve El Garraf.

Vinaros is a town and municipality in eastern Spain, in the province of Castellon, part of the autonomous community of Valencia. The town, on the shore of the Mediterranean sea, is an important fishing port.

Salou is a seaside resort and tourist centre in Catalonia, about 10 km from Tarragona on the Costa Daurada, and little over 92km to central Barcelona.
